The first step in managing your condition is to know your symptoms and understanding your own symptom flare patterns. It is important you monitor you symptoms as (even if well managed). Heart failure is a progressive disease and any changes need to be monitored1.

Changes to look out for include2:

  • Your breathing, so whether you become breathless during rest and activity and by how much
  • Whether your ankles, feet and stomach become swollen and if so how swollen
  • Your weight, have you rapidly gained weight?

Of course everyone has good days and bad days, but keeping a diary of how you feel and the severity of symptoms may help you keep track of your heart failure.
